According to the State of New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, "The purpose of social studies education is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to be active, informed, responsible citizens and contributing members of their communities." The State-endorsed diploma requires fifteen credits in social studies, ten of which must include civics, United States and New Jersey history, economics and geography. The other five credits must address world history.

Hillsborough High School offers World History, US History I, and US History II to satisfy the state requirements. These courses are offered at the standard, college preparatory, and honors levels. Five additional Advanced Placement courses and six additional semester electives are also available.

More detailed information about these courses and their curricula can be found at the district website. You can find this page by choosing "SS District Curriculum" in this sidebar.
