The College of New Jersey

  • Bonner Summer Fellows - Summer Bonner Fellows will serve organizations in Trenton and its surrounding communities. Trenton is a small city that presents a typical array of urban challenges. Students coming to the program should be prepared to work in a well supervised group within an urban context. In the past, TCNJ’s Bonner Center has worked closely with such organizations as The Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, environmental organizations, urban garden groups, tutoring programs, homes for individuals with developmental disabilities, and youth sports organizations.
  • Create Your Business - Business Simulation Academy for Business and Entrepreneurship - Students will participate in a faculty led Business Simulation that encompass core business principles to create a business. Students will experience and learn components of marketing, finance, product development, management and much more. They will also learn about a variety of career opportunities in business. The experience will culminate with a creative presentation of their business to TCNJ Faculty/Staff and family members.
  • Natural Science Investigations Academy for Science, Career and Research Exploration - Students will spend two days conducting investigations in Experimental Physics and Field Biology, with an additional two days in which the students will design and conduct extensions to some of these projects. They will also learn about a variety of career opportunities in the natural and physical sciences, and how to prepare for those careers. The experience will culminate with a creative presentation of their work at a mini science conference on campus.
  • Robotics Summer Camp -  The intent of the camp is to motivate the most creative minds of a new generation of prospective Electrical and Computer Engineers to become global leaders in an increasingly technological world. The program aims to create a community of students who participate in and contribute to an intensive and powerful academic experience delivered by distinguished educators and professionals.Camp participants will be introduced through a residential College academic experience to the exciting field of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and will learn topics not traditionally taught in High Schools such as Microcontroller Programming, Sensing Systems, Digital Electronics, Wireless Communications, Computer Vision, and more.
  • Urban Teacher Academy - Selective summer program for students interested in pursuing a career in education. Information session held annually at HHS in February. Contact Mrs. Thomson, College & Career Counselor, for more information.
  • Vitalities - A Summer Academy for the Exploration of Health Professions - The health of the human body and human society rely on education, safety, preparation, prevention and treatment, and scientific research. Students will learn facets of the health professions taught at TCNJ and how each profession can impact the vitality of the body and society. Vitalities is physical! You will participate in many exercise science activities.

Kean University

  • Group Summer Scholars Research Program - The Group Summer Scholars Research Program (GSSRP) is a 6-week, hands-on research experience aimed at attracting and developing talented students who are interested in pursuing an education in a STEM field.  Upon entering the program students are divided into small research teams that are paired with a faculty mentor conducting authentic scientific research in Analytical Chemistry, Virtual Reality & Scientific Visualization, Microbiomes & Bioinformatics, Cancer Biology, Computational Mathematics and Modern Drug Discovery.  Students learn how to conduct basic and applied research during this program and develop a true appreciation of the scientific research process while contributing first hand to the acquisition of new scientific knowledge.

Rider University

  • Gifted and Talented Program - The Gifted and Talented Program is designed to give high school students the opportunity to take college courses at Rider and earn college credits while still in their senior year of high school.
  • BRONCast Sports Media Academy -  introduces HS students to a comprehensive, behind-the-scenes experience in the sports broadcasting and journalism arena. Students are immersed into learning all facets of sports media for their professional goals, from interviewing skills, traits of sports journalism to fast-action motion photography and much more!
  • BRONC Tank Academy - This Pre-College experience provides rising high school juniors and seniors with an introduction to the concept of entrepreneurship and a university level Entrepreneurship Studies (ES) program. Students will explore the opportunities and challenges faced by individuals starting up new ventures and the probable paths of career development for students pursuing entrepreneurship. Young entrepreneurs explore the start-up process, understand the genesis of business concepts, devise marketing strategies, identify sources of customers and anticipate potential challenges and solutions.
  • Contemporary Vocal Institute - An exciting opportunity for students to experience jazz and popular music. Under the direction of Tim Brent, students will be explore many of the popular vocal styles like jazz, pop, and rock as soloists and in a group setting, while expanding their musical repertoire. Each student will learn to master their skills through private vocal instruction, jazz theory and improvisation classes, and ensemble rehearsals.
  • Pre-College Musical Theatre Institute - Refine skills in singing, acting and dancing. Receive professional theatre training by working with and learning from Westminster’s renowned, distinguished faculty and award-winning guest artists. Discover the expectations of multiple theatrical disciplines, from stagecraft to performance. 
  • Pre-College Stage and Screen Acting Academy - Performers of Rider University’s Pre-College Classical Theatre Institute bring a script to life. Students receive professional theatre training by working with and learning from Westminster’s renowned, distinguished faculty and award-winning guest artists. Discover the expectations of multiple theatrical disciplines, from stagecraft to performance.

State Police

  • NJ Trooper Youth Week - Trooper Youth Week is a residential youth education program developed by the New Jersey State Police. This program presents simulated law enforcement programs for  male and female students who have completed their junior year and are entering their senior year of High School. The week's activities include lectures and presentations covering many facets of police work and criminal justice. Participants will be exposed to a disciplined quasi-military environment, including military drill in combination with structured fast moving programs of classroom activities, lectures, films, practical exercises and physical training, simulating the NJSP recruit training experience.

  • Bucknell Academy Summer Experience (BASE) - Bucknell faculty and students from across academic areas will share expertise and work with participants to find innvoative solution to pressing current issies. Students will learn to consider similiar ideas from different academic perspectives and build collaboration and presentation skills. Open to rising juniors and seniors who have a strong academic record, who enjoy collaborating and leading and who have a genuine interest in the liberal arts and creative problem solving.

  • College Edge Programs - Gain Ivy League experience and earn college credit while taking Columbia University classes with undergraduates. Choose from thousands of courses in a wide variety of subject areas. Open to rising 11th and 12th graders.
  • Summer Immersion Programs - Study in NYC or Barcelona. designed for outstanding high school students in grades 9-12.

Cooper Union (NY)

  • Summer STEM ProgramThe Summer STEM Program is a six-week intensive that immerses current high school sophomores and juniors in hands-on engineering design and problem-solving, thereby placing them on the right track for careers in technological innovation. 
  • Summer Writing ProgramThis three-week course is designed for students graduating from high school in 2018 or 2019. It’s offered live on the Cooper Union campus and online in a real-time virtual class. 
  • Summer Art IntensiveThe Cooper Union Summer Art Intensive helps high school students prepare a portfolio for college applications, worthy of top undergraduate programs. Participants choose a two-day studio concentration, devoting the rest of the week to intensive drawing instruction and the study of contemporary art issues.
  • Introduction to ArchitectureThis five-week intensive is designed to familiarize students with architectural thinking and design while taking advantage of the school’s location in downtown Manhattan. 

Cornell University (NY)

  • Cornell University Summer College - A large variety of programs including study in art, design, architecture, fashion, business, hospitality, college success, scopmuter science, engineering, robotics, debtae, literature, songrwiting, ESL, government, history, international relations, psychology, oublic health, reesarch, science, social change, sustainability, veterinary medicine and animal science.

Denison University (OH)

  • Reynolds Young Writers Workshop - The workshop is an eight-day residential program that incorporates small creative writing workshops, group sessions with Denison creative writing faculty and notable visiting writers, and much more. Only 48 students get the chance to come to the Hill to participate each June. That means students experience small, intimate writing workshops and one-on-one interactions with people who have made writing their career. It's a great way to connect with a close-knit community of writing teachers, mentors, and peers from around the world.

Duke University (NC)

  • Summer College Application – A four-week, credit-bearing program for US students currently in 10th or 11th grade in which they take undergraduate-level courses.
  • Summer Academy Application – A three-week program for students currently in 9th – 12th grade in which they take a certificate course.
  • Intensive STEM Academy Application – A one-week, STEM-based program for students currently in 9th – 12th grade that consists of a variety of laboratory tours, faculty lectures, and workshops.

Furman University (SC)

  • Summer Scholars -  Rising high school seniors and juniors participate in classes led by Furman professors and get a taste of college life.

Gettysburg College (PA)

  • Camp Psych - Campers will get hands-on experiences that introduce them to research in psychology during this fun, challenging, and engaging introduction to the field.
  • Campaigns and Elections Academy - This program is designed for highly-motivated students who have a strong interest in American campaigns and elections. Participants learn about the origins and evolution of democracy in America and gain hands-on experiences related to modern political campaigns. 
  • Writing Camp - Students gain an in-depth introduction to all four genres of creative writing: fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and writing for stage and screen.
  • 3D Object Modeling and Printing Camp - Students will study 3D object modeling and printing starting with the basics of a 3D printer. After learning the fundamentals, they will practice designing objects.
  • Coding for Robotics & Electronics Camp - Students will gain hands-on experiences in coding, wiring, hardware, and building robots through the open source software known as Arduino. Throughout this camp, campers will learn basic electrical engineering, the physics behind electricity, and how to think like a scientist.
  • Civil War Institute Summer Conference - The High School Student Scholarship component of Gettysburg College's annual Civil War Institute summer conference provides high school students an opportunity to explore the history of the Civil War era on the site of the war's most decisive battle. 

Ithaca College

  • Summer College Session - Programs ranging from 1-3 weeks in duration. Some programs offer college credit. Topics include: American Sign Language, communication, digital music production, photography, drawing, game design, screenwriting, sports media and marketing, acting, education, psychology, musical theatre, tv production, sociology.
  • Ithaca Writer's Institute - Offers two weeks of intensive writing workshops
  • Pre-College STEM Institute - Get hands-on experience in laboratory and field research. In this two-week residential program, you'll assist expert science facult with their current research projects.

Kutztown University (PA)

  • Summer Fillmmaking Institute - Offers students of all ages an introduction to the theories and techniques of digital filmmaking. Working with state-of-the-art technology, students will design, shoot and edit films of their own creation.

Lebanon Valley College (PA)

  • Actuarial Science Camp - Actuarial Science Summer Camps are week-long intensive programs for rising high school seniors designed to help them decide if they’re interested in actuarial careers.
  • Health and Biomedical Sciences Camp - Through lectures and hands-on laboratory investigations in state-of-the-art laboratories, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of molecular biology, pharmacology, immunology, biochemistry, and medical ethics. Students will learn how laboratory science can be translated into improved human health and will engage in investigative experiences that will allow them to apply their laboratory skills to real life problems. In addition, students will interact with practicing professionals in fields such as medicine, physical therapy, toxicology, genetic counseling, and biomedical laboratory research. The Health and Biomedical Sciences Summer Camp, offered during two weeks this summer, will provide a fun, challenging, and engaging college environment in which students will develop a deeper understanding of what it means to be a biomedical scientist and health professional.  
  • Summer Music Camp - Participants will have the opportunity to attend musicianship and master classes taught by acclaimed concert artists, composers, and conductors. Private lessons will be available with LVC's music faculty. Evening activities will include a picnic, Hersheypark, swimming, and other fun activities.

  • Summer Academy in Architecture - Four week hands-on credit bearing opportunity for rising juniors and seniors. Students will participate in seiminars, studio hours, field experiences, supervised dormitory life, and campus activities offering insights of both a college student and Architecture major. San Francisco Art Institute (CA)

  • Pre-College Program - This four-week, four college credit program combines in-depth study and practice with SFAI’s renowned faculty to help you build foundational skills, develop a portfolio, experiment with new media, and collaborate with like-minded peers who are driven to create. Visits to local museums and exhibition opportunities complement this immersive experience. For students entering grades 11-12.

  • NYC Summer AcademyOur NYC Summer Academy gives intellectually curious high school students the opportunity to live and learn in New York City while studying topics in journalism, media, technology, arts, culture, sports, fashion, business, science and more. Each two-week course draws on the expertise and unrivaled access of The New York Times and encourages students to take their learning beyond the classroom and into the real world.
  • August Writer's WorkshopOur August Writers’ Workshop gives rising middle and high school students an opportunity to enhance their writing skills under the tutelage of some of the best writers in the world. This week-long course draws from the strength of The School of The New York Times’s premier writing faculty and journalism courses. Students will emerge with strengthened communication skills, confidence in their writing and a profound sense of the power of the written word and visual communication.

  • Stanford Summer Arts Institute students in grades 9–11 come together for a three-week intensive interdisciplinary arts program offering academically rigorous, hands-on courses in art, visual design, and music.
  • Stanford Summer Humanities Institute students in grades 10 and 11 explore the big questions at the heart of the humanities in seminars led by distinguished Stanford professors during this three-week residential program.
  • Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes allows students in grades 8–11 to engage in single-subject intensive study selected from a wide range of disciplines, and benefit from small class size and academically themed residences.
  • Stanford AI4ALL, formerly SAILORS, invites young women in grade 9 to apply to this three-week residential summer program. Participants learn about topics in AI, partake in ongoing research at Stanford, and receive mentorship from professors, graduate students, and industry professionals.
  • Stanford University Mathematics Camp (SUMaC) students participate in a highly-selective program centered around lectures, guided research, and group problem solving in advanced math topics. This four-week program is intended for an elite group of talented students in grades 10 and 11.
  • Stanford Pre-Collegiate University-Level Online Math and Physics offers 13 courses throughout the year, including a summer term for high school students, grades 9–12. Students earn Stanford University Continuing Studies credit.

  • Summer Music Theater Institute - Summer Musical Theatre Institute (SMTI) at Wagner College gives high school students from around the country the opportunity to learn about all aspects of musical theatre performance from theatre professionals in the Wagner College and New York City community. In a two-week, on-campus intensive, students receive rigorous, college caliber training in acting, singing, improvisation, and dancing--taught in a supportive, professional environment. Students gain insights into the professional world of New York City theatre through visits from industry experts and trips to Broadway productions.

  • Frontiers - Frontiers is an exciting residential opportunity for rising juniors and seniors to explore STEM topics and humanities.
  • Launch - Launch is a hands-on learning and research experience for rising freshman and sophomores to take a closer look at the student's field of interest. An optional residential component is available.
