Johnson and Johnson Technology Awareness Program

Welcome to the Johnson & Johnson Technology Awareness Program (TAP)

The 2006-2007 school year marked the inception of the collaboration between the Johnson & Johnson Corporation and Hillsborough High School to offer approximately 40 Sophomores annually, an opportunity to participate in an exciting semester-long program.

Goals
The J & J IM Technology Awareness Program is dedicated to exposing pre-college, diverse students to Information Technology through hands-on experience

Objectives
  • To inform, inspire, and motivate high potential students towards Information Technology Careers
  • To increase participation among students by participating in outreach and awareness efforts
  • To motivate students to succeed with a high degree of self-confidence and enthusiasm in Information Technology courses
  • To give students exposure to Information Technology Careers
  • To allow students to see first hand what it's like to work at a large, global corporation
  • To challenge students to use technology as a tool to solve current business problems
  • To increase self-confidence of talented students by helping them develop their presentation skills; to provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate this improved skill set by presenting to J & J executives
Activities
Each semester approximately 20 J & J TAP members go on three field trips to the J & J NCS (Networking & Computing Services) facility in Raritan, NJ, where these HHS students tour the facility and participate in hands-on Technology activites and Job Shadowing.
These students also work solving Business-Cases and creating Business Presentations at Hillsborough High School three or more times each semester during the school day with J & J SME's (J & J employees who serve as Subject Matter Experts).
The program concludes with a Final Ceremony Presentation at which the student participants present their Business Case Solutions and their newly gained Business skills and acumen to J & J executives, parents, and Hillsborough District Administrators and Teachers.
To Participate
All sophomores attend an early fall informational assembly. Interested students must apply and be interviewed by J & J executives to be considered for the program.
